The Sea of Cortez The Aquarium of the World
Imagine an impossibly beautiful place where the Sonoran Desert meets a clear blue ocean that is teeming with life – colonies of playful and mischievous sea lions, flying mobulas (manta rays that leap out of the water) and endemic species of reef fishes (that only occur in that part of the world), large colonies of seabirds nesting and soaring overhead, humpback whales breaching, and blue whales and large schools of dolphins cruising past.
That is the Gulf of California, also known as the Sea of Cortez, and it is one of the most rich and spectacular marine environments on earth — so much so that it inspired Jacques Cousteau to call it the “Aquarium of the World.”

Exclusive yacht charters are an incredible way to enjoy nature while still maintaining social distance. And Baja Sur, the least inhabited state in all of Mexico, with a density of only 10 inhabitants for every half a mile (compared to 64 people per half mile at the national level) is a truly unique destination in times like these.
Yachts are hygienic, self-contained and controlled environments that can offer extremely limited contact with other people. On a luxury liveaboard charter on a yacht, your contact will be limited to the Capt Cactus, who lives onboard the yacht itself and therefore have limited contact with the “outside” world. And in a destination like Baja where the itinerary consists mainly of visiting un-inhabited islands, it has an advantage over other more populated, typical boating destinations like the Caribbean, France, Italy, the East Coast of the USA or even other areas in Mexico.
